At last, after much delay, the mp3 tool for Sonic 2 is released! Feel free to include this in your hacks and whatever. Currently only Gens and Gens+ are supported, since Kega was being a pain to work with since I suspect it uses DMA ¬_¬, but meh, most people use Gens so it's not much of a problem.

Sonic 2 MP3 Tool v1

Ok what this tool does, quite simply, is synchronise with your Megadrive Emulator to play MP3 tracks instead of the music built into the Sonic 2 ROM. To use the tool, firstly you have to decide what tracks you want for each zone. Simply name each MP3 file it's number in the soundtest, and put it in the same folder as the tool.
02.mp3 - EHZ
0E.mp3 - CPZ
13.mp3 - Boss
etc.
Once you have placed the files (you don't need to place all of the them, but there will be no music on levels you don't put music for) boot up the emulator and the tool and choose what emulator you are using from the menu at the top (currently only two emus are supported, but it's easy to add more, just tell me the emu and I'll add it). Then start the game as normal and you should here your music!
Have fun
